Warren Harcourt Bird, of Camp Verde, Arizona, passed away peacefully with his loving family by
his side on October 8, 2024. He was born in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, on March 6, 1967, to
his late father, Simon Harcourt Bird, and is survived by his mother, Nancy Cantrell.
Warren grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he graduated from high school before continuing his
education at Arizona State University in Tempe. A true Sun Devils fan, he passionately followed
and supported the football team throughout his life. He was also a devoted fan of the Arizona
Cardinals, proudly cheering them on as part of his Arizona sports legacy.
In 2017, Warren met the love of his life, Sherry Norris Godfrey, and they were married on
November 15, 2021. Together, they blended their families, living by the motto: "We aren't yours
or mine, steps or halves... TOGETHER WE ARE A FAMILY." They raised their children: Josh
Bird, Brandon Haines, Ashley Bird, Trey Crosby, Jordan Godfrey, Rylan Godfrey, and the
youngest, Chase Warren Bird, affectionately known as the “caboose to our crazy train.”
Warren was a devoted Papa, cherishing his grandchildren: Jacob, Jaxon, McKinley, Madison,
Royal, Easton, Emilynn, Ace, Virginia, Axel, and Kylo. His love for family was evident in
everything he did.
An avid outdoorsman, Warren loved spending time with his family, often camping, hunting, or
fishing. His adventurous spirit and love for nature were hallmarks of his character, creating
countless cherished memories.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held from 11am -1pm on October 19, 2024 , at Campo De
Ensueno, 115 Camp Lincoln Road, Camp Verde, Arizona. Later that day, there will be a benefit
fundraiser featuring a silent auction, dinner, cornhole tournament, and raffle at the same location
starting at 4:00 PM.
