Velia C (Contreras) Mena

Velia (Gabriela, Vee) C Mena, 87, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, October 27th, 2024. She was born in Clarkdale, Arizona on March 24th, 1937 to Julio and Conceptíon Contreras. 

Vee could be found at Cliff Castle Casino on most Friday nights or at home. She loved her family deeply and without question. She loved playing 31 at home with friends and family whenever the occasion would arise. 

Vee is survived by her husband of 40+ years, Gino (Higinio), two sons George (Nina) Childs and Ethan (Melissa) Mena, grandchildren Candace (Juan Jr) Suarez, George Jr, Ezra, Severus and Lily, sister Connie Sepulveda, brother Alex Contreras, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Cruzita, Mary and Martina (Tina), brothers Joe, Frank, Margarito (Yito), Vicente (Vince), Raymond and Chuy, Sons Mark Childs and Keith Childs. 

Velia asked for no services, instead raise a toast to her, have a meal with your loved ones, play some music and dance a little for her, and smile at the memories.
