Thomas Newton Johnson Jr.

On July 7, 2024, Thomas “Thommy” Newton Johnson Junior died in Pleasant Grove, Utah at the age of 91.

Thomas was born in Dallas Texas on November 22, 1932 to Thomas Newton Johnson Senior and Dovetta Susan Spears. When Thomas was a child his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he grew up.

Thomas married Della May Allan and had three children, Della Marie Johnson, Thomas Richard Johnson, and Robert William Johnson. Thomas and Della divorced and Thomas married France Helen Prichard in 1958. Frances’ son Lloyd Alvin was adopted by Thomas. Frances died in 1990 and Thomas met and married Kathleen “Kay” Dewey and they moved to Camp Verde, Arizona. Kathleen died in March 2024 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

During his life, Thomas enjoyed playing baseball, working on cars, being outdoors hunting and fishing, and being with his family. He worked and lived in Maverick, Arizona where he was the equipment mechanic and ambulance driver. He later worked for and retired from SRP.

Thomas was preceded in death by his spouses Frances and Kathleen; his siblings Roland William, Norma Virginia, Margaret Dovetta, and Sylvia Virginia; his children Lloyd Alvin, Della Marie, Thomas Richard, and Robert William; his great-granddaughter Samantha Lewis.

Thomas has multiple grandchildren; Kevin Johnson (Tracy), Kim Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson (Kari Dawkins), Brian Johnson (Alexandra), Jeremy Johnson (Shoshoni Boling), Theresa Lewis (John), Bethany Eubank, Rebecca Helms (Justin); and numerous great-grandchildren; Kyler Ruff (Jared), Kaycee Johnson, Brynnlee Johnson, Brianna Johnson (Andrea), Tristan Johnson, Madison Jones, Brennan Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Kaylee Johnson, Aspyn Johnson, Keyton Johnson, Gabriel Lewis, Alexis Lewis, Samantha Lewis, Michael Lewis, Connor Eubank, Jeffrey Eubank, Makella Gant, Lucy Hooper, Stella Hooper, and Gwendolyn Helms.

July 18th 3pm-7pm Visitation at Bueler Funeral Home Chapel 

Thomas’ funeral services will be held on July 20th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 214 West Grovers Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85023. The visitation will be at 9:30 AM and the funeral services at 10:30 AM.

July 23, 2024 at 8am Thomas will be laid to rest at West Resthaven Park Cemetery at 6450 West Northern Road, Glendale, Arizona.
