Shirley Ann (Racette) Seifert

August 27, 1943 ~ March 21, 2023 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Obituary

Shirl (Shirley Ann Racette) Seifert passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 21, 2023 next to her husband, David.  She was born on August 27, 1943 to Henry Arthur and Lena Genevieve (Demars) Racette.  Shirl and Dave were married 59 years.  They were born 3 days apart in St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, Kansas.

Shirl graduated from Clyde High School in 1961.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982 from Wichita State University.  She was a devoted wife and mother who loved cooking and collaborating in the kitchen.  Over the years she attended hundreds of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events in Kansas, Colorado, Alaska, Nevada, Arizona and Ohio.  We remember her as an elegant and stylish lady who was eternally optimistic.  Her adventurous spirit led her to racing go-karts and powder puff stock cars. Her entrepreneurial spirit led to her opening several small businesses.  She also loved watching KU basketball, dancing and playing blackjack.  After Dave’s retirement they traveled throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. Rather than a traditional service, Shirl’s wish was for everyone to enjoy a nice meal and talk about her without tears or sadness.

Shirl is survived by her husband Dave; children, Michael [Hilary] Seifert (Houston, Texas), Chereé [Don] Netherton (Assaria, Kansas), Chad (Sedona, Arizona); siblings, Nanella (Nan) Alexander (Sachse, Texas), Henry Racette Jr. (Mattoon, Illinois) and Elaine Roy (Concordia, Kansas); grandchildren, Matthew and Marcus Seifert (twins), Alexis Kruemcke, and Annalisa and Megan Netherton. Shirl was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Gene Joseph, George Eldon and Larry Merlin Racette.
