Ron, "R.T.," was born in Buffalo, NY. The 2nd of 6 children, born to Major Raymond G. Schmahl and Cureen M. Schmahl. Being raised in a military family, Ron was used to moving often. That is where he acquired his "rolling stone" way of life that he loved. He was proud of his family and friends and defended, fiercely, the ones he loved. He had a solid sense of right and wrong. Always the defender of the underdog. He would tell you the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not. He was a gifted body and paint collision repairman. He was a trophy-winning motocross racer. He later graduated to become an avid Harley rider, making a few long road trips. He was a car hauler, which suited his nomad personality. But his most loved and cherished accomplishment is his son. He was selfless and generous to a fault. He'd give you the shirt off his back and always looked out for others.
Ron is survived by his son, Ray, and faithful dog Lucy, his siblings, Ray, Sue, Sandi, Sheryl, and Randy. Numerous nieces and nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Cureen Schmahl; his nephew, Graham Roller; and his dear friends, Jim McKinney and PK Klien.
Services will be held at the American Legion Post 93, Camp Verde, on February 15, 2025, at 1 pm. All family and friends are welcome and encouraged to come and celebrate the life of R.T.
