Ricky Lynn Stokes
July 21, 1956-December 23, 2024
Rick Lynn Stokes, 68, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was born in Tucson, Arizona, on July 21, 1956. He was the second child of Leah Kae (Schofield) and Kenneth Albert Stokes. The Stokes family moved to several Arizona towns including Mesa and Flagstaff where Rick grew up. Rick graduated from Coconino High School in 1975 and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1975-1977. He married Brenda Connolly and they moved to Cottonwood, Arizona in 1979, where Rick worked for Phoenix Cement until 1984. In August 1984, he and his brother Scott opened Sun Country Woodworks, which is still in operation today.
Rick loved people and enjoyed being with his family, his friends and his dogs. Some of his hobbies included playing sports, watching sports (especially his kids and grandchildren) hunting, and motorcycle rides that later lead to ATV rides. He loved restoring old Chevy pickups and he loved to hunt, camp and be outdoors with his family.
Rick is survived by his wife Brenda (Connolly) Stokes; his children; Ryan (Jessica) Stokes, Robert (Brandee) Stokes, Lindsey (Corey) Gillett, Lauren (Marlon) Martin, Coby (Heather) Cook and 18 grandchildren; His sisters; Jackie (Greg) Benjamin, Cindy (Dave) Kleinman, Diann (Cory) Cook and his brother, Scott (Michelle) Stokes. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Raelynn.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1377 E. Hombre Dr. Cottonwood, AZ 86326. Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2025, at the chapel, from 6pm-8pm. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book.
