RICHARD (DICK) NORRED, 82, passed away August 21, 2024 from heart disease. Born and raised in Phoenix, Dick lived in Camp Verde, AZ with his wife. They were summer residents in Sequim, WA for 10 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, was a retired SRP Power Plant Mechanic/Control Room Operator, an Arizona State University graduate, a Master Gardener, a musician, ceramics and metal jewelry craftsman, and an offshore sailboat owner/skipper. Dick founded the Arizona Outdoor & Travel Club in 1983 which provided backpacking, hiking, offroad trips, sailing, summer campouts, winter ski trips for outdoor-minded people. Dick loved to share his knowledge of gardening, outdoor skills, and alternative health matters in classes in WA and AZ.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty; his brother, Michael Norred (Virginia); nephews, Jeremy Norred (Ashley), and John Norred, and their children; and stepsons, Michael Gibson (Lori) and Robert Gibson (Tracy); step grandchildren, Brian Gibson (Corie), Sierra, Shane and Scott Gibson and 6 great-grandchildren.
