Rebecca Lynn Boyum

Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Boyum, 58, of Camp Verde, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2023.  She was born in Trimont, Minnesota on October 1, 1964 to Lincoln Orvis Swelland and Betty Jean (Schafer) Swelland.  Becky loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart and served His purposes her entire life.  She embodied the words of the Apostle Peter when he said, “Above all, love each other deeply…”

She was married to Kent Boyum on August 6, 1988 at Christian Life Church in Farmington, Minnesota.  They adopted their two children: Matthew (28) and Karley (17).  They were the joy of her life.

She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and taught piano lessons for over 30 years.  Also, she recently worked at the Parkside Preschool in Camp Verde and loved those kids so much.  She served faithfully alongside her husband in pastoral ministry at Christ Center Assembly of God in Hudson, Wisconsin, Christian Life Church in Farmington, Minnesota, Destiny Christian Center in Burnsville, Minnesota, and Desert Willow Church in Camp Verde, Arizona.  Together, they also served a short-term mission’s assignment in El Salvador, Central America.  She taught Sunday School, lead Children’s Christmas programs and choirs, helped lead Worship each Sunday morning, and served in innumerable activities in the church. 

She had an extremely special ability to connect to people.  Her love was evident in each encounter, as she was known for her amazing hugs.  She experienced much pain, heartache, and disappointment in her own life, yet never allowed that to keep her from carrying the hurts and burdens of others.  She had a compassion that represented her deep walk with Jesus.  To know Becky was to know the character of Christ.

Becky is survived by her husband, Kent Boyum of Camp Verde;  son, Matthew (Kay) Boyum of Phoenix; daughter, Karley Boyum of Camp Verde; brother, Mark (Lisa) Swelland of Hudson, Wisconsin; and brother, Paul (Becky) Swelland of Farmington, Minnesota, and many family and friends.

Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at Desert Willow Church, 918 Hwy 260, Camp Verde, Arizona at 11:00 am.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at the church prior to the service.

There will also be a Minnesota Memorial gathering on Saturday, June 10th from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Destiny Christian Church, 7741  147th St. W. In Apple Valley, MN 55124
