Randy Eugene Hoy, 72, went home to be with Jesus on February 10, 2024. He led a fulfilling and happy life, even in the midst of his physical struggles in the final season of his life on this earth. Randy was born to Donald and Phyllis Hoy in Lusk, Wyoming on March 3, 1951. He attended East High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming and worked in many forms of construction until he retired in 2011.
He was a dedicated and loving dad, husband, papa, and great grandfather. He was blessed with a large and loving family. With his first wife, Becky, he raised two children, Cory (Lorie) Hoy and Tracy (Jason) Craft. With his second wife, Lynn, he gained two children, Will (Krystle) Dendy and Kylee Bell, and enjoyed almost 30 years together of shepherding and enjoying 13 grandchildren: Shyler (Sterling) Harris, Ashlei (Cole) Hoy, Samantha Hoy, Bethany (Nathan) Bishop, Kaitlyn Craft, Mason Bell, Brianna Dendy, Scarlett Bell, Bella Dendy, Jaxson Dendy, Avery Dendy, Chloe Contreras, and Brixton Contreras; and 7 great grandchildren and counting: Image Raye, Carson James, Baylee Kate, Fynn Ryder, Cory Ivo, Elijah Sterling, and soon to be born, baby boy Bishop. He loved dearly his sisters, Gina (Marshall) Ryerson and Sandy (Steve) Barnes; his nieces and nephews, Jayme (Jerry) Moerdyke, Tana (Dmitri) Wood, Marc (Katrina) Barnes, and Levi Ryerson. In heaven, he was met by his parents, Don and Phyllis Hoy, his sister, Gina Ryerson, and his infant grandsons, Randy James and Cory Robert Hoy.
Randy was talented in working with his hands, from building colossal wrought iron structures as a welder to creating intricate pieces of jewelry and threading fishing hooks in retirement. He found a love of reading in his later years, when he had to relinquish the use of his hands for a focus on the use of his mind. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, road trips, Lynn’s lemon meringue pies, and hugs.
He was a steadfast supporter, encourager, and leader of his family. He always had time to answer a question, give advice, or help solve a problem. He lived in the moment and appreciated the beauty of nature and all God’s creation. He had a solid and unwavering work ethic, yet he knew how to rest and play well. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
The celebration of Randy’s life will be held at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 330 Scenic Drive, Clarkdale, Arizona 86324 on March 9, 2024 at 11:00 am. The family greatly appreciates your condolences, and especially your prayers during this time.
