NORMAN "Brownie" WILLIAM BROWN October 16, 1926 - July 3, 2014 Norman (Brownie) William Brown, 87, of Camp Verde, Arizona, formerly of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away at his home on July 3, 2014, surrounded by his beloved children. Norman was born on October 16, 1926 to Irl O. Brown and Gertrude (Barry) Brown in Springfield, Massachusetts. Norman was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II from 1942 to 1946. Upon returning home to Springfield, Massachusetts, he joined the Teamster Union Local 404. During his many dedicated years as a Teamster, starting as a truck driver, he then became a Shop Steward for Pacific Intermountain Express. Following that, he was elected Trustee for six years and then elected Business Agent/Secretary-Treasurer for his Local 404. He was an active Board Member for Teamster Joint Council 10 in Boston, Massachusetts, representing Local 404. Norman also volunteered many hours organizing Blood Drives and CPR classes on a regular basis for Local 404. After retirement, he was able to enjoy time with his wife, Marion, their family, and his passion for horses. In 1999, Norman and Marion moved to Camp Verde, Arizona. Norman was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marion "Mimi" Ester (Davis) Brown of 66 years, on June 17, 2014. He is survived by his three children, Debra (Brown) Magnani and her husband, John, of Enfield,Connecticut, Holly (Brown) Brewer and her husband, Carl, of Enfield, Connecticut, and Norman "Duke" W. Brown of Enfield, Connecticut, his seven grandchildren, Marisa (Magnani) Sandler, Laura (Magnani) Williams, Katharine (Magnani) Provencher, Kristen (Brewer) Sokolov, Elizabeth (Brewer) Stambovsky, Derrick Brewer, and William Brown; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Irl Brown of Florida and Robert Brown of Springfield, Massachusetts, and numerous nieces and nephews. Norman was also predeceased by his parents, Irl and Gertrude Brown, and his brothers, James Brown, Richard Brown, Leroy Robbins. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Bueler Funeral Home Chapel, 143 West Arnold Street, Camp Verde, AZ. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Arizona Hospice, 203 South Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.
