Michele (Minki) Palmer, 79, of Cottonwood, died Monday, June 3, 2024. Michele was born on April 30, 1945, in Vienna, Austria. She had a thirst for knowledge and talent for languages that took her throughout Europe and Russia. She spoke six languages fluently, founded an international tax consulting office, and worked for the U.S. State Department, the CIA, and a Swiss trading company. She married her soulmate, and love of her life, Richard, on July 28, 1983, in Fairfax, Virginia, and they resided in eight different foreign countries and northern Virginia before moving to Cottonwood in 2004.
Michele spent her remaining years managing an international investigation firm that specialized in tracing purloined monies and locating criminals. Her personal life was largely spent renovating their home and planting and nurturing plants. Her greatest passion was in rescuing animals of all sizes. She had a quick mind, a wonderful sense of humor, and she will be sorely missed by everyone she encountered.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents, Leopold and Pauline. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her stepdaughter, Amy (Benavides); and her stepson, Richard Palmer Jr., in addition to two grandchildren.
A wake and celebration of life was held at Nic’s Steakhouse in Cottonwood, Arizona, on the evening of June 8, followed by cremation at Bueler Funeral Home, 143 W. Arnold Street, Camp Verde, AZ, 86322.
Any donations in her name should be sent to the Verde Valley Humane Society in Cottonwood, Arizona.
