Maigel Hubbell Obituary

Maigel "Elaine" Hubbell, 90, born January 11, 1935, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at her home, in the loving care of her daughter, Luisa Lapenna, and her devoted nurse's aide, Victoria.

Elaine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A retired nurse, she spent her career caring for others with skill, steadiness, and compassion. Beyond her nursing work, Elaine was an accomplished Arabian horse breeder and showwoman, a pursuit she approached with pride, dedication, and joy, winning multitudes of ribbons and trophies. She then worked for many years alongside her husband, Beck, at his veterinary clinic in Washington, until they retired and moved to Arizona.

Elaine also had a creative spirit. She enjoyed designing and creating jewelry, baking, going to the movies, gardening—especially growing roses—and traveling the world, particularly taking cruises. She was also an avid Beanie Baby collector. She was a longtime member of the Verde Valley Questers and participated in baking and selling her delicious salted-caramel pecan pies at the Fort Verde Days and the Pecan and Wine Festival in Camp Verde. She enjoyed the company of her many special friends in the Questers.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marian Mott; her sisters, Jeanine and Dianne; her brothers, Jim and Roger; and her beloved husband of 52 years and stepfather to her two children, Beckwith Hubbell, Jr., DVM. She was also preceded in death by her cherished Chihuahua, Summer, and her many beloved Great Danes, Golden Retrievers, cats, and horses.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Luisa Lapenna; her granddaughter, Katrina Trampush; and her son, Mark "Marco" Lapenna (Lorrie). She is also survived by a large blended family, including her stepsons Eric (Amy), Rand (Nanette), and Todd, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elaine's celebration of life will be held at a future date. Donations in her memory may be made to Arizona Life Hospice, 3177 Clearwater Dr., Ste B, Prescott, AZ 86305. 928-379-3391.
