Lucille Catherine Clawson entered into eternal rest, and reunited with loved ones before her, on March 31, 2025. Lucille was born in Attica, Ohio on March 6, 1930. She graduated from Attica High School in 1948.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Barbara Dick in 1973, father, William John Hiler in 1974, husband, Robert "Bob" William Clawson in 1987, sister, Margaret K Hiler in 2006, brother, Bernard Andrew Hiler in 2007, and by her son Gerald "Jerry" Lynn Clawson (Robin) in 2021. She is survived by her sons, James William Clawson (Janice) and Jeffrey Robert Clawson (Carla), sisters Rosemary Grochowalski, Miriam Yosick, and Jane Pifher (Neil), 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Much of Lucille's extended family, siblings and nieces and nephews, are still in north central Ohio.
Lucille and Bob left Ohio in 1960 and though they intended to settle in California, ended up making Arizona home. They spent time in Tempe and Williams before finally finding their forever home in Camp Verde.
Lucille is best known for her many years as the owner and manager of the Zane Grey Swap Meet, for volunteering thousands of hours to serve and care for others at The Arbors/Haven, for her years of fun with the Dancing Grannies, and for years of volunteering at the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce. Lucille regularly attended St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde.
Friends and family will remember her quick wit, sense of humor, honesty, and willingness to host any and all family get togethers for many years. Her love and legacy will endure in her family and in those she touched.
The family is particularly thankful for the countless hours of love and support that was provided by Janice and Lauren. They regularly provided groceries, rides to appointments and get togethers, special requests, words of support, hugs, and love.
The family would also like to thank Tina and the entire staff at Verde View Senior Apartments, Meals on Wheels, and Maggie's Hospice for providing outstanding care and support.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, to honor her son Jerry, the family requests a donation to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition at https://www.multiplesystematrophy.org. The MSA Coalition funds research into the causes and treatment of MSA. Donations can also be made to the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde at https://dphx.org/donate/ or by calling (928) 567-3543.
Lucille's family will hold a private gathering and she will be interred at Williams Cemetery in Williams, AZ.
