Jo Ann Rawlinson (née Peevey), age 88, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in
Cottonwood, Arizona.
Born on January 31, 1937, in Waco, Texas, to Arthur Lee and Ella Mae Peevey (née
Morris). Jo Ann lived a life marked by dedication to learning, creativity, and care for
others. Her professional journey began with a fulfilling career as a law librarian in the
Coconino County courts of Arizona. She took great pride in her work within the legal
system and cherished the memories she made during that time. Later in life, Jo Ann
embraced a second career in early childhood education, where she found joy and
purpose in nurturing young minds.
Jo Ann had a deep appreciation for nature and the arts. She found peace and
inspiration in gardening and bird watching especially hummingbirds visited. Her love for
painting and crafts reflected her creative spirit and brought beauty into the lives of those
around her. A devoted animal lover, Jo Ann shared her home and heart with many
beloved pets over the years.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Marilyn; her children Michael, Katherine, Mark,
and Diane; and her grandchildren Tony, A.J., Micah, Corrisa, Geoffrey, Nathan, Justin,
Eric, Nick, Ali, Ernest James (Jim), 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers George, David, and Arthur
(Bubba).
Jo Ann’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her kindness, wisdom,
and quiet strength. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
Don’t weep at my grave,
I am not there.
I’ve a date with a hummingbird
to dance in the air.
I’ll be singing in the sunshine
wild and free.
Playing tag with the wind
while I’m waiting for thee.
