Janet Edna McVay died peacefully at Haven Health of Cottonwood on November 1, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born January 21, 1946, in Salt Lake City to Katherine Johnstone McVay and Daniel M. McVay. The family moved to Missoula, Montana, where Janet and her older brother spent their early childhood years.
Janet graduated from high school in Tacoma, Washington, and then trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at that profession for many years in Newport and Aloha, Oregon, and later in Vancouver, Washington. She moved to Arizona to be near family and spent the last twenty years in Cottonwood.
Janet’s Christian faith was an important part of her life, as was her concern for numerous pets over the years. Many cats and dogs—as well as fish, turtles, goats, and even a parrot—were the recipients of her care and compassion. Janet is survived by her brother, Gerald McVay, of Missoula; her niece, Susannah McVay-Ries, of Missoula; and her nephew, Colin McVay, of Philomath, Oregon.
