James Patrick McGinnis of Cornville, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2026.
James was born on March 9, 1947, to Glenn and Faye McGinnis in Nyssa, Oregon. After graduating from Nyssa High School in 1965, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army.
Upon honorable discharge in 1969, he returned home to Oregon to attend Portland State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree.
His career in banking spanned over 40 years across Oregon, and most of his time was spent serving the community of Tillamook County.
He volunteered his time to the Y.M.C.A., Tillamook Bay Community College, and the Elks, Lions, and Kiwanis clubs, to mention a few.
James married Ellen in October of 2002. They moved to Arizona in 2014, where together they enjoyed hiking, golfing, and traveling. His love for the outdoors, adventure, and time with his family and friends brought him much joy.
He goes to join loved ones who have gone before him and leaves his love with his wife, Ellen, and their children: Dayna, Erin, Joe, James, and Nathan. James had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren: Rowan, Olivea, Owynn, Amelia, and Aria. He is also survived by 3 of 4 of his brothers: Timothy, Michael, and Danny, with Terry preceding him.
There will be a family service in the summer at the Owyhee and a celebration of James in Tillamook at the Alderbrook Grange Hall on Sunday, April 26, from 2 to 4 pm.
Considering his love of the outdoors and his passion for education, we welcome you to donate to the National Parks Foundation at https://www.nationalparks.org
