It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother. Glenda B. Owens passed away on December 23, 2024, after a brief illness. She was 95 years old. Glenda was born on November 1, 1929 in Junction City, Arkansas to William and Lillian Barker. She married George C. Owens, Jr. on June 19, 1948 and had daughters: Carolyn, Diane, Cathy, and Debbie. George and Glenda spent the majority of their married lives in Arizona, living in Kingman, Phoenix, and Prescott Valley. Shortly after her husband’s passing in 2002, Glenda relocated to Cottonwood where she spent her remaining years until her passing.
Glenda is survived by four daughters, Carolyn McCarter, Diane Newberry (James), Cathy Lisk (Clint), Debbie Montgomery (Robert), six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
Among Glenda’s most significant accomplishments was raising her four daughters, whom she held as her pride and joy. She served as an administrative secretary in the Arizona State Government for a considerable part of her life, mostly in Phoenix and Kingman. She also worked for the Motor Vehicle Department in Prescott Valley until her retirement in 1995.
Glenda was many things-she was strong, she was loving, and she was always there when you needed her. She had a gentle, nurturing way that drew people to her, and she made every one of us feel loved and supported. She had an impact on everyone she met.
A celebration of Glenda’s life will take place on February 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Center Wesleyan Church, 580 Brewer Road, Sedona, AZ. Private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements made by Bueler Funeral Home, Cottonwood, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Town Mission Food Pantry and Resource Center, 116 E. Pinal Street, Cottonwood, AZ 86326
