Georgia Carol (Hudspeth) Lyon Salinas passed away at home in Camp Verde, Arizona on October 13, 2025. She was 86 years old. She was born in Prue, Oklahoma and graduated from Osage High School in Osage, Oklahoma. She is survived by her sons, John Kevin Salinas of Camp Verde, Arizona and Mark Lyon. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Riley Hudspeth and Grace Raye (Ramsey) Hudspeth, and her brother Billy John Hudspeth. She is also survived by her sister Donna Rae (Hudspeth) Brown, who died two weeks later on October 27, 2025.
Georgia Carol married Don Lyon. Together they had one son, Mark Lyon. Later in life, she married Michael Phillip Salinas. They had one son, John Kevin Salinas. Michael Salinas preceded her in death. John Kevin faithfully cared for her in Camp Verde during her last years of life.
She loved to play the piano and paint pictures, and loved animals, especially cats and dogs. She had a heart for stray cats and made sure any that showed up had a good meal. She loved to watch old movies and her favorite comedians. Especially as a young woman, she had a zest for life and was rarely still. She wore big sunglasses, drove a zippy car, and was so much fun. You could only appreciate her subtle sense of humor if you were listening carefully; she was not one to call attention to herself, but she was a keen observer. She told stories about things others had forgotten and kept a particular treasure of our family history for us all.
The family farm where she grew up in Prue, Oklahoma is covered by Keystone Lake, which was created by the damming of the Arkansas and Cimarron rivers. She, her brother Billy John, and her sister Donna Rae spent many years working on the farm; Billy John continued with his love of farming but the two girls couldn’t wait to get out. As soon as they were old enough, they headed to the big city of Tulsa to find their own adventures. Later in their lives, Carol and Donna reunited on trips together, laughing like young school girls, never running out of things to say.
Georgia Carol worked various jobs throughout her lifetime. She became a licensed dog groomer and worked at Honeywell and other enterprises.
She is loved dearly and missed by all who knew her.
