Eugene Edward Shepard

Eugene Edward Shepard, 86, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 in Hospice/Comfort Care at Verde Valley Medical Center, in Cottonwood, Arizona. He was born April 15, 1938 in Tiffany Township, Boyceville, Wisconsin.

He served 3 years in the Marines, Camp Pendleton, California with the latter year stationed in Hawaii. Gene moved to California with a friend a few years later where they both found work and stayed. This is where he met and married his wife, Carolyn and resided there until their retirement. They then made a decision to spend their retirement years in Kingman, Arizona and is where Gene lived until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Shepard; brothers, Leslie and James Shepard; and stepdaughter, Glenda Heinsma. He is survived by his brother, Jerry (Sandy) Shepard; sisters, Eunice (John) Denning, Judy (James) Leffler, and Sharon Shepard; and stepdaughters, Carolyn (Terry) Fredrickson, and Charlotte (Robert) DeLucco and many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

Jerry, Sandy, Eunice, and John have nice memories of the wonderful time they had visiting Gene and Carolyn in Kingman, Arizona and touring various tourist spots in the area. Fun times!

In his later years, Gene always returned to Wisconsin for several family reunions, where he was able to reconnect with Jerry, Eunice, Judy, Sharon, and other relatives. He loved the Northwoods of Wisconsin. If he came to the cabin, he always wanted to tour his favorite place, Bayfield, Wisconsin on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior and also Pictured Rocks at Munising, Michigan. In the spring, Eunice and John would visit him in Las Vegas, where they had many fun trips to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Parks, Joshua Tree National Park, Palm Springs/Aerial Tramway, and many more fun times to remember.

God knew he was tired
A cure was not to be.
He put his arms
around him & whispered,
“come with me.” 
A golden heart stopped beating.
Hard working hands now to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
