Eloise E Baldauf

February 17, 1951 ~ January 4, 2023 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Obituary

In His infinite wisdom, the Lord took Eloise Elizabeth Baldauf to her heavenly home on January 4, 2023.

She was born on February 17, 1951, in Ironwood, MI, the second child of Roland Kluhsman and Esther (nee Mattson) Kluhsman.  In 1956 the family settled in South Carey, near Hurley, WI.

Eloise had many fond memories of her childhood.  She, her sisters Kristine and Lynn, her brother Kurt, and cousins Susie and Billy, explored and hiked fields, bluffs, and forests; swam in the streams, lakes, and flowages of South Carey; and enjoyed fishing from Dad’s boat at Island Lake.  Even the harsh winters did not stop their adventures. They sledded, skated, and built snow forts. They even climbed a bluff they called “Crystal Mtn.” and slid down in the crystal snow.

She felt blessed to grow up in the times and the place she did – living with a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and wonderful cousins!  Even her childhood nickname (Squeeg) stuck with her into adulthood! Her smile and infectious laugh will truly be missed by all those who knew her.

Eloise graduated from Hurley’s J.E. Murphy High School in 1969. She then attended Gogebic Community College where she met her future husband, Rick Baldauf. They married on June 16, 1974.  After GCC she then earned her B.S. Economics degree at UW-Milwaukee and spent her 35 year lengthy career at UWM as a Grant Accountant.

Eloise and Rick lived in Milwaukee and Shorewood before retiring from their respective careers and moving to Sedona, AZ where she and her husband enjoyed hiking and various volunteer activities in the community and at Peace Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, AZ

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lynn, her father-in law, Robert Baldauf and mother-in-law, Maryann (Plautz) Baldauf.  She is survived by her husband, Rick; her sister, Kristine (Vincent) Castagna, Sun Prairie, WI; her brother Kurt (Penny) Kluhsman, nephew Kris Kluhsman; niece Holly Kluhsman, all of Hurley -- as well as many other extended family members.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 1450 E Fir St., Cottonwood, AZ at 11:00 AM on February 17, 2023.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Humane Society of Sedona or the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
