In Loving Memory of Donna Mae (Reid) Hancock
It is with deep sorrow, yet joy for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Donna Hancock into the presence of the Lord on May 17th, at the age of 93.
Donna was born in Clemenceau, Arizona (now Cottonwood), on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1931.
A devoted wife to Norman Hancock and a loving mother to her three children— two sons and a cherished daughter—she was the heart and soul of her family.
Beyond her unwavering love for her family, Donna was a successful businesswoman. With her children raised, she dedicated her later years to caring for the elderly in residential care homes and starting an Adult Placement Service. She made a lasting impact by reforming Arizona laws on residential care home licensing and how the elderly were treated.
Her kindness knew no bounds, and those who had the privilege of knowing her were touched by her generosity and warmth. Throughout the years, Donna opened her home to others as a place to stay and live, including most of her grandchildren.
Even when Donna was in her last days and didn’t talk much anymore, her eyes always lit up seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved babies and the little kids running around her. All could see that children held a special place in her heart. They all loved their grandma.
Donna’s unwavering love, steadfast devotion, and remarkable influence have left a lasting legacy of hard work, dedication, and passion for others, shaping and inspiring multiple generations. Though she is no longer physically with us, the love she shared remains eternal in our hearts. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Terrilyn (Hancock) Miller; her sister, Diana Jane (Reid) Walton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren (and growing); and her first great-great-grandchild this year. She leaves a generational legacy she cherished, which her family carries on.
We take great comfort in knowing that Donna is in Heaven, reunited with loved ones—her husband, Norman C. Hancock; her sons, Robby and Danny Hancock; her parents, Marion and Viola Mae (Taylor) Reid; her grandparents, Benjamin Franklin Taylor and Florence Mae (Newman) Taylor; and Colden Chasten Reid and Myrtle Etta (Johnston) Reid.
Donna will be interred at the Middle Verde Cemetery in Camp Verde.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to The Middle Verde Cemetery.
