Dayle Lee Moore of Cottonwood, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her family on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 84.
Dayle was born in Orange, N.J., on November 6, 1940, to Priscilla Dunn Decker and Harold Benjamin Decker. She spent the majority of her life residing in Westfield, N.J., where she was married to Donald Stuart Moore Jr. for 19 years. Later in life, she moved to Bethlehem, PA, and then finally to Cottonwood, AZ, in 2021 to live closer to her family.
Dayle had a deep love for her family and friends. She is survived by her 3 children, Alison Moore of New Zealand, Janice Moore SanGiovanni (Gary) of Cottonwood, and Glenn Moore of Westfield, N.J. She has 8 grandchildren: Gianina, Nicolas, Jon-Marco, and Zachary, all from AZ, and Christina, Steve, Jessica, and Gabe, all from N.J. She also has 4 great-grandchildren: Braxton, Isabella, Samuel, and Aryah, all also of Cottonwood. She leaves behind several other family members and friends.
Dayle was a Registered Nurse all her life, working at a Children's Specialized Hospital, Runnels Hospital, and the longest for Rahway Hospital in N.J., and didn't retire until into her 70s.
During that time, she also served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 5 years. After retiring, she traveled the state of N.J., giving thousands of flu shots, delivering Meals-On-Wheels to the needy, teaching at the Adult Literacy Program, and becoming a crisis counselor for the Suicide Crisis Hotline for many years. Her passion for helping people was deep.
Dayle had a beautiful spirit of counseling, giving people hope and a reason to live. There was nothing she wouldn't volunteer for or give to anyone in need. She had a heart that was so sensitive to others, often doing without for herself so others wouldn't have to. She had a nurturing spirit that drew people to her, impacting everyone she met and improving the lives of all in any way she could.
She enjoyed hobbies such as writing poems and little books about animals for her grandchildren, doing jigsaw puzzles, oil painting, needlepoint, fostering and raising bottle-fed animals in need, gardening, playing Scrabble, traveling, and visiting her many longtime friends.
She was deeply loved and will be missed so much!
A celebration of Dayle's life will take place with her family in the spring, with a tree-planting memorial ceremony.
