David Allen Spear
February 18, 1952 – March 15, 2026
David Allen Spear, 74, of Camp Verde, Arizona, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Born in Chula Vista, San Diego County, California, on February 18, 1952, David lived a life defined by faith, family, and the cowboy way. He was a man of many talents and vocations who ultimately retired as a respected Real Estate Broker, but his heart always belonged to the outdoors. A true cowboy at heart, David found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time on horseback. He was an accomplished bull rider and team roper, a passionate sports fan who loved football, baseball, and professional rodeo. Known for his quick wit, dry humor, and collection of unforgettable one‑liners, David brought laughter and warmth to everyone around him.
He was a proud member of the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Posse, where he served terms as both Vice President and President, and he was also active in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).
David’s greatest pride, however, was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Pam Spear; his children Tonya (Matt) Brogdon, Shanna (Jess) Mulcaire, Lauren (Matt) Morris; and his nephew, who was like a son, Brett (Tonya) Spear. He was lovingly known as “Grandpa” to six grandchildren: Ethan (Brynna) Brogdon, Makayla (Wyatt) Shilling, Tristen Mulcaire, Aislynn Mulcaire, Brayden Morris, and Emery Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patricia Spear, and his sister, Phoebe Parker.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at 480 South First Street, Camp Verde, Arizona 86322. David will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona, at a later date.
Though he hung up his hat for the last time, those who knew David will remember him for his strength, humor, loyalty, and love—a cowboy through and through, whose ride on earth ended, but whose spirit will continue to ride alongside us.
