Chester “Chet” Ross Linder, Camp Verde resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the age of 81.
Chet, the son of Ethel (Hines) and Clarence Linder, was born June 17, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1961. He proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1966. After completion of basic training, he served a tour in Vietnam where he acquired the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Chet stated many times, 3 years, 6 months, and 13 days. Then went on to get his bachelor’s degree from Phoenix College in May 1973. Upon graduation he worked as an automotive mechanic and later became an executive at Auto Zone where he retired. He was one of the first members of the Founders Club of Auto Zone. For many years he was affiliated with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Club. One of his favorite things to do was to bus kids to the lake and teach them to fish and camp.
Chet loved guns, fishing, hunting, demolition derby and drag racing. But mostly he loved his family, friends and his Lord and Savior. Chet was deeply loved and appreciated and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Clarence Linder. His older brother, Ralph Linder and his daughter, Cynthia Owsley.
Chet is survived by his wife, Mary C Linder of 46 years; his younger brother, Leonard “Pete” Linder of Camp Verde; three of his children, Vincent Linder of Phoenix, Ron Nance of Camp Verde and Roscoe (Lora) Owsley also of Camp Verde; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Chet was an active member of the Camp Verde Baptist Church where the services will be held and fellowship to follow.
Services will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. Camp Verde Baptist Church, 299 W Hollamon St Camp Verde AZ 86322
