He lived in Edina, Minnesota, and moved with his family to Reseda, California, in 1965. In 1966, the family moved to Lake Minnetonka in Mound, Minnesota, where he attended Our Lady of the Lake Elementary School. In 1968, Chuck and his three siblings moved to Cokato, Minnesota, and lived on the family farm with their grandparents, Wallace and Arlene (Swan) Groves. He attended Cokato Elementary School and Dassel-Cokato High School.
He was in 4-H and loved living in the country, baling hay, gardening, raising chickens & Black Angus, fishing, hunting, trapping, snowmobiling, driving the Ford tractor, and driving the Honda 50 on the dirt roads. Later, when he lived in California, Chuck grew to love the ocean, becoming an avid scuba diver; he then went on to become a scuba instructor.
In 1976, Chuck moved to Phoenix, AZ, and lived with his mother and stepfather, Faye & Robert Smith, and attended West High School. In 1977 Chuck moved to California and attended and graduated from North Hollywood High School.
Chuck worked for ABC Studios doing set construction. He then followed in his father's footsteps and supervised the construction of an apartment building in Van Nuys, CA. He took classes and became a concrete inspector for Smith Emery, inspecting high rises in the Los Angeles area.
Chuck moved to Cottonwood, AZ, in 2002 and worked as a building inspector for Camp Verde. He resided in Cottonwood, AZ, for 23 years and met his wife, Karen Burrows, at Clarkdale Baptist Church in 2004, and they married on June 18, 2005.

Chuck will be remembered for his loving and kind spirit, sense of humor, smile that would light up a room, infectious laugh, positive outlook even in the darkest times, and his faith in the Lord. His love for his family, especially his wife Karen, will be a cherished memory for all that knew him.
