Carrie Lorene Stone passed away peacefully at home in Camp Verde, AZ on September 13, 2023. She was born in Wilcox, AZ on June 10, 1953 to Edgar and Lola Newnam. Carrie was the youngest of 10 children. She graduated from Camp Verde High School in 1971, where she met the love of her life, Scott Stone. They married in 1971 and had two children and five grandchildren.
Carrie was a wonderful person with many talents. She was an ace seamstress, even altering suits for the Babbitt family in Flagstaff. She went to cosmetology school, and worked as a bakery manager for Fairway Foods in Flagstaff. She ran “The cake lady” business in the Pueblo of Laguna for several years. She was also a fuel desk cashier, an OTC Pharmacy Manager at Show Low Walmart SuperCenter, Certified Pharmacy Technician at Show Low Walmart and Lakeside Safeway Store. She was a member of the UFW Union in retirement, as well as a restaurant owner, a great farm and ranch wife and gardener who was great with animals.
She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Scott Stone of Camp Verde, and her Children Scott (Kim) of Rio Rancho, NM and Amy Brown of Show Low, AZ. She is also survived by her grandchildren James and Taylor Stone, Ian, David and Evelina Brown. She is Survived by two sisters, Sharon Texeira of Camp Verde and Brenda Courtney of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and many extended family members.
Carrie was preceded in death by her Parents, Edgar and Lola Newnam, six sisters, (Jean, Jo, Georgia, Phyllis, Ruby and Norma) one Brother (Eddie), and her grandson (Steven). A celebration of Life will be held at the Stone family farm on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2054 E. Hardy Lane, Camp Verde, AZ. Service will begin at 10AM. Reception to follow.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks that donations go to the ALS Foundation of Arizona or Northern Arizona Hospice who so tremendously supported and cared for her through her illness.
