On February 20th, 2025, Arleen Freeman left us as gently as she lived, with grace and peace. She passed comfortably in her home surrounded by love.
Arleen was the beating heart of our family and the most devoted mother to her four children. She is survived by her son, Roy Freeman (Jillinda) and her daughters, Donna Ralston (Gary) and Suni Freeman. Arleen's greatest happiness came from being "Grandma" to her 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished with a love that knew no bounds. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Freeman, second husband, Nick Stilwell, and daughter, Connie Freeman.
Arleen, originally from Duluth, Minnesota, moved to Arizona in 1972 with husband Richard. They came to own the Sundial Motel in Old Town Cottonwood in the late 70’s; a chapter of her life filled with memories and stories she loved to share. After many years of being a business owner, she shifted her focus on helping the lives of others in the Emergency Department at Verde Valley Medical Center, until retiring.
Arleen's caring spirit touched countless lives. Her warm smile and gentle touch brought comfort to those in need. She showed us what true strength looks like – facing each day with a smile, an open heart, love, and of course, forgiveness. She shared her wisdom over countless cups of coffee and had the most tender hugs that made everything better. These memories will live in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mingus Mountain Vista & Picnic Observation site on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 pm.
