Terry Dean McNeff, 77, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, in his home in Camp Verde, Arizona. He was born on February 22, 1947, in Twin Falls, Idaho to John (Jack) and Phyllis McNeff. He had one older brother and one younger sister. He has been a resident of Camp Verde for the past 21 years.
Terry's life work was in the communications field, working for General Telephone Company for 30 Years. He retired in 1999. He attended Boise State University for 2 years and then moved to the Seattle Area to work for GTE. He was a Special Apparatus Technician and worked in various locations in Washington and Idaho.
Terry started the Men's Auxiliary at the VFW post 6739 in Camp Verde in 2006 and was the first President. It later joined with the Women's Auxiliary and is now the auxiliary. When Terry retired, he started making things out of antlers-mostly cribbage boards and jewelry. He gave almost everything away.
Terry and Irma were married in 1979. He had a 6-year-old daughter, Courtney and Irma had two teenage daughters, Twanette and Sherri. The family of five blended well together and he treated his stepdaughters as his own. He taught them how to change a tire and other things a Dad would pass on to his children.
Terry was a NASCAR fan and he and Irma went to the Dayton 500 on his 50th Birthday. They also went to the Phoenix raceway on numerous occasions. Terry loved to ride his Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle. His biker name was "Hutch". He was a charter and lifetime member of the American Legion Riders and a life member of the VFW Riders and the VFW Auxiliary. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 93.
Survivors include his wife and partner of 45 years Irma McNeff; daughter, Courtney McNeff of Kirkland, Washington; stepdaughter, Sherri Calhoun (Bob) of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Jamie Drooger (Nicole), Tegan Hoevet (Tyler), Robbie Calhoun and Braden McNeff'; and sister, Leslie Martin of Nampa, Idaho. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Phyllis McNeff'; stepdaughter, Twanette Drooger; and brother, Dan McNeff.
